STUART BALDWIN PRESIDENTS TROPHY FINAL

Kingsway carried on from the previous week in claiming the second trophy of the season with a well earned victory against a spirited Asfordby Amateurs side, Asfordby had earlier kicked off with only ten men due to a player getting lost this seemed to egg on the team and they came close to taking the lead on several occasions with Kingsway struggling to find there feet, with Asfordby restored to the full complement the action was from on end to the other. Kingsway took the lead just before half time when gook work from Ben Bayliss released Tom Mansfield to place a shot wide of the keeper to open the scoring. The second half started with the weather getting worse but to there credit both teams went for it with a ding dong battle to claim the title. With fifteen minutes to go Kingsway made sure they are the first team to win the trophy when Tom Mansfield capped a fine display scoring his second goal of the day Asfordby never gave up and got the consolation goal with two minutes from time after good approach play down the left flank.

PREMIER DIVISION
The top match in the Under18 Premier Division saw third placed AC Wigston travel to table topping Quorn. A hard fought match ended all square at 1-1 with Wigston taking the lead early on when centre back Luke Foster headed home a long throw in. Quorn equalised towards the end of the first half through Drew Williamson and after that a midfield battle ensued and the nearest either side came to scoring was mid-way through the second half when Nathan Keizer's fine header was tipped onto the crossbar by the athletic Quorn goalkeeper. Wigston United got there own back against Kegworth Imps when they recorded a 5 - 1 home win scoring through Nick Hart (2), George Drake, Luke Prior and Romain Pemberton. Westfield Wanderers and Allexton & Tenant played out a terrific game which ended up in a 5-5 draw. Allexton took an early lead through Iain Willett and midway through the second half Westfield equalised with a fine goal. Both teams played some good football and 1-1 half time score line was a fair reflection.

The second half was again equally as exciting, Westfield came storming out the blocks and made it 2-1 and then 3-1 very quickly with two goals from Tom Wallace and there only looked one winner as it was very much one way traffic. Tenant got their heads back up and gave themselves hope when Louis Rayat scrambled in a second. Then Tenant captain Nathan Curtis made it 3-3 with a great strike. However Westfield took away Allexton's joy very quickly when they made it 4-3 soon after with a well worked move. Allexton then equalised once more from a corner as Jack Boothby got on the end of a delivery to score his first for the club. Westfield once again dampened Allexton celebrations as eight minutes from time they fired home a fifth to make it 5-4. Yet again Tom Wallace scoring to make it four in the game Tenant looked like all the efforts had been for nothing but they forced a corner with seconds to play and Iain Willet got on the end of the delivery by Tom Roughly and Allexton equalised for the fourth and final time. The final whistle blew straight from the kick off after the goal to end what was a thrilling football match.

Queniborough went straight in for the match today and scored the first goal through an outstanding opener by Kyle Smith. Syston scored an equaliser after fifteen minutes, but Smith produced the goal of the match with a fantastic lob over the goalie's head from out on the wing. Queniborough defender Daniel Moore brought down the Syston forward for the referee to give Syston a penalty. They scored it and the game was leveled. Syston raised their game and by half time were leading 4-2 although Queniborough didn't deserve the scoreline having had most of the play in the first half. Once again injuries hit Queniborough and although just returning from a serious injury, Steve Mitchell hobbled off after trying valiantly to return in the second half after a nasty strain to his groin as the half time whistle blew. Reserve Sat Thandi came on as replacement. Syston also made some tactical subs as they had rested two of their key players for their final, but their manager realised the threat Queniborough had to them and decided to bring them on. Queniborough soon pulled one back after the break through Ford Taylor, after a delicate through ball from midfield. Bur Syston went on to score two more very lucky goals in quick succession - one from a dropped ball from the Queniborough keeper, the other from a corner. Queniborough raised their heads and came back into the game, after a long free kick from keeper Tom Meredith that landed to the feet of Queniborough's Jack Shaw who controlled well and the finish was on target and shot past the Syston keeper. However the final score was 6-4 to Syston, but both managers agreed it was one of their best matches of the season. Queniborough only have three matches left to pull themselves off the bottom of the league, as they lost points when Gilmorton folded mid-season.
