UNDER 18'S
PREMIER
DIVISION It was top against bottom when Queniborough took on Asfordby
and was always going to be a difficult match. Queniborough started with a positive
attitude, for 20 minutes Queniborough stuck in there and held Asfordby to a 0-0
draw but Asfordby kept coming and eventually broke Queniborough down. Queniborough's
new signing Tom Victory pulled one back for Queniborough to make the score 2-1,
Queniborough looked back in the game but by half time Queniborough were down 5-1.
With no substitutes, injuries caused problems for Queniborough. Heads dropped
and the home side played the worst football they have played all season. Asfordby
walked the second half and finished the game 11-1. Second placed Quorn made the
trip to Westfield. Westfield gave a good account of themselves in a first half
where they enjoyed a lot of possession, but were unable to convert this into goals.
The second half was a tight affair, with both defences on top. Dominic Hancox
was Westfield's Player of the Match, playing out of position in central defence.
A neat move led to a great chance for Ryan Brightwell, but his shot from close
range slid agonisingly wide of the Quorn goal, as Westfield continued to attack.
However it was Quorn who took the lead after 75 minutes with a well taken breakaway
goal When Simon Ogilive finished a good move, Westfield thought they had equalised
soon after, through Chris Gilmore, but his shot was unluckily ruled out for an
apparent handball. With only minutes left Danny Flynn's overhead kick clipped
the post, and this proved to be the final chance in a very close game. Mowbray
flew out the blocks quickly with a high tempo and played some good football. Before
the half hour mark Rangers found the Tenant net three times and were deservedly
comfortably in front. Allexton hit back through Freestone but it was all very
short lived as Rangers stepped it up once more and regained their three goal advantage
which made a half time score of 4-1 to the home team. First half was obviously
all Mowbray and second half it turned as Tenant Fought back with three goals during
the 45 minute period. Luke Atkin, Nathan Battu and Liam Green all finding the
net for the visitors and the home team scored through Daniel Maddock, Chris Pope,
Martin Widdowson and Patrick Firminger. Kingsway managed a 3 -1 home win over
Goals from Ben Jarvis and two from Tom Mansfield, UNDER 17 LEAGUE CUP Loughborough
Dynamo got through to the next round of the league cup this week when they won
their game against Market Bosworth 3-1, although the score difference could have
been a lot higher if Dynamo's shots on goal had gone in. The first half saw goals
from Loughborough's Dan Jelley and Tom Slaughter. Market Bosworth also hit the
back of the net when they were awarded a free kick just outside the box. Tom Bates
added Dynamo's 3rd just after the restart, and although there were no more goals
there were several chances missed. 3-1 the final score. Melton Foxes eased into
the second round beating Glenfield United 10-2.The first goal came after seven
minutes when Joey Hopkins ran through the Glenfield defence and hit a great shot
that the keeper could only push out to Aaron Shaw who scored Excellent work from
Will Keightley on the right set up Joey Hopkins who scored number two off the
underside of the bar. Scott Gathercole converted a free kick to make it three
nil at half time. Will Keightley beat three players near the corner flag and set
up Joey Hopkins to score the fourth. The fifth goal came from a quickly taken
corner, will Keightley deservedly scoring with a twenty yard screamer. Aaron Shaw
scored the sixth from a Jack Woodhall pass and soon completed his hat-trick latching
onto a long goal kick from Andy Botham. Glenfield scored a penalty before Jack
Woodhall turned just outside the area and lobbed the Glenfield keeper to make
it eight one. Glenfield got another goal back when a ball from the left crept
in at the back post. Mark Tinsley took Foxes into double figures scoring twice
late on.

CUP There were no shocks in the first round of the cup with all premier
teams making it into the next round , Aylestone Park struggling in the league
found there form to put nine goals past Quorn Juniors ,Tyler Sibson scoring five
goals his first for the club making a man of the match contribution with the other
goals coming from winger Alex Keyworth Aaron Smith , midfielder Joe Henton and
county captain Reece Nyszczota , Loughborough Dynamo ran out comfortable winners
by six goals to nil against a ten-man Beaumont side on a day more reminiscent
of mid-summer than late October. For long periods of the game Beaumont appeared
to have twelve men instead of ten but eventually the extra man and Loughborough's
passing began to take its toll. The hat-trick from Major was punctuated by goals
from Bennett, Munaim and Morris and, but for some fine saves from the Beaumont
keeper and a goal line miss from Bennett which seemed to defy the laws of physics,
the total could have been much higher. Dynamo started brightly and had chances
from the first minute but it wasn't until the eighth minute that Major got onto
the end of a sharp cross from the influential Scott on the left. On twenty-eight
minutes Bennett followed up from mid-field with a ferocious drive from just outside
the area to make it two nil. The second half started as the first had finished
with Bennett and O'Mara breaking through only to be thwarted by the quickly advancing
Beaumont keeper. Munaim made it three on fifty-three minutes with a deftly flighted
shot over the advancing defence just out of reach of the keeper. The introduction
of the rehabilitated Lidwell on fifty eight minutes made an instant impact when
he lifted a ball over the Beaumont midfield and Major, in slow motion, controlled
the ball on his chest, dropped it onto his knee, took a touch on the right foot
and then sent a volley into the keeper's top left hand corner to make it four.
Lidwell provided the pass that split the Beaumont defence for Morris to make it
five on sixty eight minutes and Morris could have had a second on seventy six
but unselfishly passed to Major to complete a memorable hat-trick. Rothley only
had 10 men and we came from 1 nil behind to 3-1 up, then went 4-3 down. With about
5 minutes to go Jake Harrison scored a brilliant goal in the top right hand corner
that hit the stanchion bar. This made it 4-4. After 10 minutes each way extra
time the score remained the same. Our stand-in goal keeper (Alex McLugash) saved
two of the five penalties and ended up scoring the winning penalty. And although
Alex McLugash won the Man of the Match the whole team played their socks off.
The match was very entertaining and stomach churning during the penalties. Countesthorpe
were made to fight against Oadby owls Countesthorpe continued their recent good
form, but were made to work hard to earn their passage into the next round. Missing
several key players, Countesthorpe were pushed all the way on a difficult playing
surface, chances were limited in the first half as the game developed into a physical
scrappy midfield tussle. Athletic settled in the second half and began to create
chances but the Owls always posed a threat on the break, with 15 minutes remaining
Tom Weaver volleyed home a Danny Jenno knock down from a well flighted corner.
Soon after Oadby old boy Matt Bizley finished a neat passing move to secure a
place in the next round. Narborough completed a comprehensive win over Birstall
United, the home side was quick out of the blocks and Sajan Patel opened the scoring
before Connor Bennett doubled the lead with a strike from the edge of the box.
Patel then bagged another 3 goals to take his personal tally to four and making
the half-time score 5-0. Into the second half and Jack Boyd, David Whitmore and
Matt Barrington added goals to make the final score 8-0.Sileby town juniors progressed
to the next round of the cup with a comfortable 4 - 0 away win at Ibstock youth
united. Sileby town scored their first goal from a twenty yard Jack Dodsley free
kick. Sileby kept the pressure on and were rewarded when Tim Carr scored to put
Sileby two up with a powerful header direct from a corner. Ibstock competed well
but they fell behind further when Lewis Maxfield netted after the Ibstock keeper
dropped the ball at the strikers feet to make the score 3-0 at half time. The
second half continued in the same vein as the first with Sileby town in the driving
seat. Sileby town secured a 4-0 final scoreline when Sileby Town's man of the
match Matt North was sent through to coolly lob the advancing Ibstock goalkeeper.
Gaunt youth paid the price for missed opportunities when Wigston Rangers beat
them 3 - 2 with both teams playing some excellent stuff. Wigston took the lead
on 18 minutes when Luke Gell picked up a loose ball to fire home on 38 minutes
Tom Hill laid a ball to Shaun Rowley who scored a neat goal off the post. In the
second half Gaunt took the game to Wigston and on 49 minutes pulled one back with
a neat goal from Callum Mewi. On 56 minutes they drew level with a stunning goal
from Kieran Hewitt, 3mins later Harold Giwa-Amu put Wigston in front again after
a Shaun Rowley header was laid into his path. Syston Town completed the biggest
win of the day with a 12 - 0 white wash over Enderby 2000, fellow premier team

against Gilmorton Juniors with Ray Ford getting the home goal.. Highfield rangers
overcame a spirited Woodgate 80 side and were made to work hard for their 4 -
2 victory with Zack Gedling scoring twice for the hosts. Westfield Wanderers managed
to just edge a tight game at Hinckley by beating Queniborough Juniors by 3 - 2
with goals from Ryan Mason, Isaac Walsh and Will Carnell with the winner. |
