LEAGUE CUP SEMI FINALS
UNDER 16

First division took on premier division in the first semi final when Westfield Wanderers took on Saffron Dynamo at Dorset Avenue. The first half kicked off and both teams had trouble in coming to terms with a dry and rock hard surface with the ball bouncing awkwardly and no team grabbing the authority To press home the advantage both teams were guilty of holding on to the ball to long and trying to walk the ball in to the net so the first half ended 0 - 0.The second half started and it looked that the half time managers talk went at death ears as no real chances arose, then after 10 minutes of the second half Saffron were awarded a penalty when a player was tripped after cutting in from the right, with first choice penalty taker off the pitch due to injury it was left to the second in line who's shot came back of the post to safety. Saffron sensed there chance had gone but dug deep to finally open the scoring through Joe Wright, son after Lewis Russell added the second and the flood gates opened further goals from Alex Baraclough, Aaron Watts and a superb hat-trick from Joe Wright leaving him with four goals from the game And the man-of -the -match award, it was hard justice on a Spirited Westfield team that did not give in and battle to the end so Saffron now meet the winners of game two.
Match two was premier division Loughborough Dynamo taking on league leaders Syston Town Conceding two goals in the first seven minutes proved too high a mountain to climb for Loughborough Dynamo as they went out of the League Cup at the semi-final stage. Syston are too good a side to give a head start and, despite Loughborough's grit and determination, Syston never really looked as though they would give up their lead. This was always going to be a tight but Loughborough were undone by a combination of some unexpectedly high bounces and opportunistic finishing. The first goal came on five minutes when a long kick into the Loughborough penalty area bounced over the central defenders leaving a surprised Dan Hepworth to pass the ball into an empty net. History repeated itself three minutes later when Loughborough again failed to deal with a bouncing ball, cleared weakly and saw Jamie Allen finish sharply low to the keeper's left for a very well-taken goal. This rocked Loughborough and but for the timely intervention of Lloyd Tack at left back, having one of his best games for some time, matters may have been made much worse. Loughborough managed to regain their composure towards the end of the first half and started to take the play to Syston with Liam Scott on the left and Reece Morris on the right creating opportunities against a well-organised Syston defence. In the second half Loughborough didn't really come out with enough vigor and found it difficult to break Syston down. Chay Carter was forced to tip a header round the post as early as the forty-seventh minute. Despite the best efforts of the Loughborough mid-field Syston established more control, both in terms of occupation of Loughborough territory attempts on goal, and didn't really look like relinquishing it. So both Saffron Dynamo and Syston Town now meet in the under 16 league cup final on May 18 th at Oadby Town F C.
