Match Reports 3/02/08 With the latest round of football
games severely decimated due to the weather only eight game were completed in
the youth league.
UNDER 18'S PREMIER DIVISION It proved to
be a memorable day for AC Wigston winger Daniel Girvan at strugglers Gilmorton.
On his first start of the season, thirteen months after suffering a broken leg,
Girvan smashed home two long distance strikes, the second of which was a superb
swerving free kick. It proved to be the kick start AC Wigston needed after their
recent stuttering form had seen them slip to fourth in the table. Further top
quality finishes from Lewis Madelin and Dean Wade helped Wigston overcome the
windy conditions as well as their stubborn hosts to register a much needed 4-1
win. Westfield went into their game against Quorn on the back of 4 consecutive
league wins, but for the 3rd time this season, they were unable to get the better
of Quorn. With a strong wind behind them, Westfield had several early chances,
but was unable to convert them. It was Quorn who took the lead in the 20th minute,
with a breakaway down the left, and with no immediate support, the striker had
no option but to go it alone and he managed to slip the ball past the Westfield
keeper from a tight angle. Westfield defender David Drewery made a brave attempt
at a goal-line clearance, but the ball was already over the line. However, Westfield
struck back to equalise. Top scorer Stuart Heathcote rounded the keeper, and shot
from a narrow angle. 2 Quorn defenders on the line were unable to stop the ball
going in off the far post. Quorn were soon back in front when the second half
started, an attack was only partially cleared, leaving the attacker with the easy
task of slotting home. Westfield fought back, and had several good chances, the
closest being from Alex Tustain, who saw his shot unluckily, come back of the
post. All their efforts were to be to no avail however, and the equaliser proved
elusive, with Quorn winning a tight game 2-1 in difficult windy conditions. After
last week's game, Queniborough were on a high and prepared to give the highly
competent Asfordby a run for their money. Game started well and Queniborough managed
to keep Asfordby contained and only conceded one goal in the first half. Queniborough
had a goal disallowed and had quite a few chances that got away and both teams
could easily have gone into half time level pegging. The second half was energised
with both teams playing in both halves and the ball was passed around the field
well. The Asfordby pitch had an uneven part to it that caused some problems with
the ball lifting unexpectedly. Asfordby went on to score a second goal early in
the second half; Queniborough followed that up with one that hit the post and
another couple of near misses. It was when substitute Shaun Chester came on and
was brought down in the area that saw Queniborough's Tom Meredith score from the
penalty spot to put the score 2-1. Queniborough were back in the game and had
some near misses and close calls but it wasn't to be Queniborough's day. Steve
Mitchell hobbled off in the last ten minutes and his absence was sorely felt as
Asfordby scored three quick goals in the last ten minutes. Queniborough shouldn't
be disillusioned as if Asfordby win their games in hand, they could easily be
top of the table and this match didn't discredit Queniborough at all and if they
keep playing in this fashion then their next few games against teams lower in
the division should give them a chance to replicate their win of last week. Leaders
Kingsway had to settle for a share of the spoils at Wigston United who are currently
on their best form of the season neither team could find a goal in this top two
clash. Allexton & Tenant also had to settle for a point when they took
on Mowbray Rangers, Ian Willett and Nathan Curtis found the net for Tenant. Syston
Town managed only their fourth win of the season when they took on Kegworth Imps'
finishing with a 3 - 1 victory.
UNDER 17'S PREMIER DIVISION Westfield

Dynamo 2 - 1 Lloyd Robinson and DJ Godhania with the Dynamo goals. Coalville Town
fared no better going down 4 - 1 to Measham Welfare Paul Simpson, James Cooling,
Josh Nicholson and Michael Mottram completing the scoring for Welfare. DIVISION
ONE Melton Foxes took a big step towards winning the league beating second
place Quorn away from home and extending their lead in the table to eleven points.
Foxes played into the wind in the first half and took the lead when Scott Gathercole's
pass found Aaron Shaw in the area, he held off the defender slotted the ball past
the keeper. Quorn equalised when Foxes failed to deal with a long throw into the
area Foxes lead was restored just before half time when Dale Radford's free kick
was converted by Mark Tinsley, Harry Forfar heading the ball back across the area
for top scorer Tinsley to open his account. Tinsley increased the lead ten minutes
into the second half, working hard to win the ball back and curling a lovely shot
passed the keeper from just outside the area. Quorn then got another goal back
before Foxes were awarded a penalty for a kick on Dale Radford. Mark Tinsley converted
the spot kick to complete a hat-trick for the fifth time this season. In the
other fixture in the division Loughborough F C Youth saw off bottom club Friar

the top of the pile while scoring a 4 - 0 win in the process. Second placed Lutterworth
Town had a 4 - 1 win over Kingsway Rangers. a second half Bradley Hughes hat-trick
secured the points for Lutterworth. After a goal-less first half which could have
gone either way, both sides came close but failed to break the deadlock. After
the break Hughes put Lutterworth in the lead with two skillfully taken goals in
the first five minutes. Kingsway fought their way back into the game half way
through the second half with a neatly worked goal from Hydan Shepherd. As Kingsway
battled to claim an equaliser with ten minutes to go Lutterworth sprung the perfect
counter attack with an accurate kick from goal keeper Mark Lill, into the path
of Matt Creasey who despite a strong challenge from David Sanga kept his composure
and scored number three for Lutterworth Barrow Town youth kept there recent

the game. Raynsway Rangers scored the first goal through Perry Punter. He hit
it into the top corner with the outside of his foot. After that, both sides had
half chances but not full chances, this was due to the wind. Non of the sides
