UNDER 18'S
PREMIER
DIVISION The Wigston derby at South Leicester College produced a marvellous
game as Wigston United entertained AC Wigston in front of a sizeable crowd. United
started well and pressed hard for the breakthrough but the AC defence, led by
the impressive duo of Foster and Banton, stood firm. AC then had a twenty minute
spell of pressure which ended with Austin McNulty threading the ball through for
Aaron Soper to calmly lob over the United keeper to give the visitors a deserved
lead at the break. AC continued well early in the second half and Nathan Cartwright's
thirty yarder crashed back off the bar, keeping United in the game. United pressed
hard for the equaliser after that and when Luke Prior's long throw caused chaos
in the AC area it appeared to be Ross Holland who forced the ball over the line
with barely a minute left. A hard earned point for both teams which nicely sets
up the re-match later in the season. Quorn Juniors are the new leaders in the
premier division after a 4 - 1 success at Kingsway Rangers previous leaders Asfordby
went down 3 - 2 at local rivals Mowbray Rangers.

LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY CUP UNDER 17 Lutterworth
turned in an impressive match wining first half performance to over come League
one Whetstone. Anthony Zupp opened the scoring as Lutterworth started to control
the game. A defence splitting pass from Brad Hughes to the right enabled Reece
Hodgson to fire home the second goal. Man of the match Brad Hughes scored the
third with a turn in the box and shot that would have graced a much higher stage.
Zupp completed Lutterworth's scoring with an angled shot which deceived Whetstone
keeper Keifer Clements, just before the break to give the home side a well deserved
4-0 lead. The second half was a much more even affair with Whetstone claiming
their first goal half way through the second half when Joe O'Brien connected with
a corner kick to score. Mark Lill in the Lutterworth goal was called upon to make
two or three good saves one which was cleared off the line after striking the
post, maintaining Lutterworth's lead in the game. Whetstone scored their second
goal, again from a corner kick. The ball pin balled across the face of the goal
before O'Brien made headed contact to flick the ball on, only for Oliver Ross
to divert into his own net. Lutterworth failed to capitalise on a couple of late
chances to extend their lead, but they had done enough to progress into the third
round draw. Melton Foxes eased into the third round of the county cup beating
Huncote Dynamos 8-0 away from home. It took Foxes twenty minutes to open their
account when Tom Bingley rolled the ball across the box for Mark Tinsley to slot
the ball home. Harry Forfar scored the second when the Huncote defence failed
to deal with a corner. Two goals in two minutes just before half time killed the
game, Tom Bingley scored a great header from a poor defensive clearance before
Harry Forfar scored his second of the game converting another corner. Two minutes
into the second half Will Keightley scored number five after a quickly taken corner.
The sixth goal came from a good ball over the defence by Jack Woodhall, Joey Hopkins
shot was parried by the goalkeeper and Tom Bingley followed up to score. Aaron
Shaw scored number seven latching onto Luke Bradbury's ball over the defence.
Scott Gathercole completed the scoring beating the keeper at his near post. Loughborough
2002 played host to Barwell Athletic and it was Barwell who came away 2-0 winners.
Barwell played some great football in the first half and it was no surprise when

left that started the move, his fine pass found Luke Hancock in midfield his first
time pass found Louis Gamble who hit an unstoppable shot into the top corner Barwell
made it 2-0 five minutes before the break when a cross by Tom Causer found Kyle

cup there were no shocks as previous rounds the premier clubs all made it into
the next round with some convincing scores the round up begins at Countesthorpe
college were Countesthorpe took on premier division rivals Loughborough Dynamo
still struggling with injuries, Athletic made several changes, and things looked
tough when after a bright start, a curling shot deceived the keeper to send Dynamo
in front. The Reds leveled on the stroke of half time when a Danny Jenno bullet
header was parried by the keeper only for Kyle Sperry to glance home. Defences
where generally on top for the rest of the game, but both keepers had to be on
form, Loughborough twice hit the woodwork whilst 2 blistering Jenno free kicks
tested the opposing keeper to the full. But no break through came at either end,
and 20 minutes of extra time still could not separate these well matched sides,
so it was down to the lottery of penalties. Butler, Sperry, Wheway and Bradley
calmly slotted home their penalties, and when Dynamo drilled their fourth pen
wide it left Aaron Murray with the job of firing the home side through, of which
he made no mistake. Premier division leaders Royce Rangers hammered 13 past sorry
Anstey Sifts without reply , Mowbray just managed to scrape past Sileby Juniors
but it took until extra time to win 1 - 0 , Saffron Dynamo wasted no chances in
their victory over high scoring Queniborough Juniors 5 - 0, St Andrews beat Raynsway

into the next round with a 2 - 0 over Bardon Hill Juniors , Netherhall Diamonds
inconsistent season returned when they went down to Burbage Old Boys 3 - 1 and
Asfordby Amateurs just edging Enderby 2000 by 3 - 2. First division Sileby
Town Juniors pushed high flying premier side Mowbray Rangers all the way to the
wire in a great team performance. Sileby town were denied a penalty shoot out
when a controversial penalty was awarded to Mowbray in the very last seconds for
time added on, in the second period of extra time. This was converted and the
final whistle was blown shortly after. Sileby Town started the brightest
in the first half and had the premier side on their back foot. Sileby Town created
chances going forward and their defence and midfield was resolute and holding
firm. When Mowbray got into their stride midway through the second half, Sileby
more than matched them in a well contested game. Sileby did themselves proud and
did not look out of place against their premier opponents. Into the first period
of extra time Sileby Town juniors kept their excellent work rate up and looked
for that all important goal. With only seconds remaining in the second period
of extra time, Sileby Town fancied their chances in a penalty shootout, which
they would have thoroughly deserved, only for the late penalty to settle the result.
