UNDER 18'S PREMIER DIVISION With
the season entering the last few days the title is between current leaders and
favourites Quorn Juniors and Kingsway Rangers they just need to get a point from
the away trip to A C Wigston on Wednesday to capture the title, but they will
not have anything their own way as A C will push hard till the final whistle,
leaving Kingsway a away trip to bottom of the table Queniborough Juniors. AC Wigston's
fine end of season form continued with two wins in a week against Westfield Wanderers.
On Wednesday Wigston produced a fine performance to overpower the visitors. Luke
Foster's fine header from Austin McNulty's corner got the ball rolling and two
smartly taken goals from Dean Wade midway through the second half gave the score
a more realistic look. On Sunday though the game looked to be going Westfield's
way when an early goal gave them a well deserved lead. Despite losing Ashley Hawkins
with a head injury Wigston fought back, Skipper McNulty striking a rasping half-volley
to send the teams in all-square at half time. For much of the second half Westfield
were well on top, with Brightwell and Heathcote prominent in many flowing moves.
The Wigston defence however stood firm and when Shiels and Soper led a breakaway
with just ten minutes remaining the referee awarded a free-kick some thirty yards
from the Westfield goal. Up stepped McNulty and once again his powerful strike
swerved away from the Westfield keeper to give Wigston the points. Wigston now
entertain champions-elect Quorn on the final day of the season and they know that
they need Kingsway to drop points if they are to finish as runners-up. Kingsway
meanwhile gained six points from two fixtures beating Mowbray 5 - 0 and doing
the double on the opponents five days later.
UNDER 16'S PREMIER DIVISION Saffron

beat champions Syston Town on their own patch with goals from Aaron Watts and

was at home to rock bottom Blaby & Whetstone, they had no trouble in sending
them packing with a 8 - 1 drubbing. Goals from Joe Wright (2), Ryan Evans, Sam
Croxon, Marley Henry, Lewis Russel, Marley Henry and Alex Baraclough. |
