UNDER 18'S PRESIDENT'S
TROPHY. Both Westfield and Wigston had crashed out of the League Cup in
their previous fixtures, to a 3-0 scoreline, so this game in the Presidents cup
was the last chance for either Team to progress in their last season in Youth
Football. What followed was a typical cup-tie, played on a muddy surface, with
both Teams giving everything in a nine goal thriller, with only one goal separating
the Teams at the final whistle. Westfield started brightly, but it was Wigston
who opened the scoring in the 8th minute with their first attack of the game.
A free kick was floated into the box, and was not dealt with, allowing Wigston
to take the lead. Westfield battled back, and was enjoying good possession down
the left wing with Alex Tustain, Ryan Brightwell, and Stuart Heathcote combining
well, and causing problems for the Wigston defence. It was these 3 players who
were involved in the equaliser. A poor clearance was picked up by Tustain who
passed to Heathcote, a neat flick sent Brightwell through, and with only the keeper
to beat, he picked his spot well, and fired into the corner. More chances came
and went for both Teams, but Half Time was reached with the scores level at 1-1.
The second half was only 10 minutes old when some neat interplay in the box left
Tustain with a simple tap in to put Westfield into the lead. More attacks followed
as Westfield turned the screw, and it was no surprise when Brigthwell curled a
lovely shot, out of the keeper's reach, into the top corner. Tom Wallace then
hit a post, and the rebound just evaded Heathcote as he followed up. There then
followed the move of the match, with Brightwell finding Nicky Dean on the right,
he sent Matty Hunt away , and his superb cross was met by Brightwell who had raced
into the box, his diving header evaded the keeper to give the Man of the Match
his hat trick. Matty Hunt's long free kick from the touchline then evaded everyone
and struck a post, and it seemed that there was only going to be one winner as
Westfield piled on the pressure. With only 10 minutes to go, there was no clue
as to what was to follow, in an amazing climax to the game. The Westfield keeper
Marvin Haas made a rare mistake, kicking a clearance straight to the Wigston striker,
who did not miss the opportunity, and slotted home. This gave new belief to Wigston,
who piled forward, and in a frantic goalmouth scramble they pulled another goal
back. Another scramble in the box saw Joint Man of the Match David Drewey, first
head off the goal line, then clear again off the line as Wigston tried desperately
to equalise. However Westfield then broke away, and a great pass from Rhaj Rachid
sent Heathcote away, who proceeded to beat 2 defenders before shooting towards
the corner, the ball appeared to be going in, but deflected off a defender, and
instead went into the opposite corner for Westfield's 5th goal, and restore their
2 goal advantage. As The Westfield players breathed a collective sigh of relief;
Wigston came back again and scored straight from the kick off with a well taken
shot into the corner for their 4th goal. There was hardly time to restart the
game, before the final whistle blew, bringing to an end to an amazing cup -tie,
played in an excellent spirit, and a credit to both Teams. In the other tie of
the day saw Quorn Juniors travel away at Gilmorton Juniors and return with a place
in the next round after dispatching twelve goals without reply. PREMIER
DIVISION Kingsway continued there recent good form with a 8 - 0 win away
at Queniborough Juniors, Queniborough had to rely on Tom Meredith keeping the

leading one nil with a goal from Tom Mansfield. The second half was all Kingsway's
scoring seven, Tom Mansfield scoring another three, an absolute stunner from Ben
Bayliss, striking a beautiful shot from 25 yards. Austin Sherwood also scored
with a tap in. Callum Wright scored after a deflection from a Tom Mansfield shot.
Tom Bedford Scored after a run down the wing and smashing it into the goal. This
leaves Tom Mansfield on 23 league goals for the season.

the New Year with a difficult home game against second placed Cosby United. The
visitors took the lead on five minutes scoring from a free kick. Mark Tinsley
got the equaliser reacting quickest when the Cosby keeper couldn't hold onto Scott
Gathercole's shot. Tinsley then turned provider for the second goal, Aaron Shaw
won the ball on the right wing, found Tinsley who beat one defender and played
a lovely ball across the area for Scott Gathercole to run onto and beat the keeper
at close range. Foxes got a third before half time, Aaron Shaw flicking the ball
on to Mark Tinsley who slotted the ball home from just inside the area. Cosby
pushed hard in the second half and got a goal back when their substitute scored
with his first touch after Foxes failed to clear the ball from a corner. Straight
from the kick off Mark Tinsley ran through the Cosby Defence evading all tackles
and smashed the ball home completing his third hat-trick of the season. Ten minutes
from the full time Cosby got a third goal heading in at the back post from another
corner. Dale Radford was unlucky not to get on the score sheet when his volley
came back off the crossbar close to the final whistle. Foxes held on to win and

UNDER 16'S PREMIER DIVISION Aylestone Park
produced only there second win of the season with a second half fight back against
Loughborough Dynamo. Both sides battled hard but Aylestone's care of the ball
and greater industry ultimately saw them through to victory and, for the neutral,
there were five goals of real quality. Liam Scott opened the scoring on nineteen
minutes when a Loughborough free kick was headed clear of the box and Scott fired
in a ferocious shot from all of 20 yards. A minute later Reece Morris intercepted
a skidding goal kick near the centre circle and drove forward, rounding the keeper
and a retreating defender, to score from a narrow angle on the right. While the
goals came slightly against the run of play Aylestone continued to press and got
one back on 37 minutes after a series of one touch passes resulted in a strong
shot into the roof of the Loughborough net by Daryl Ingram Aylestone continued
to press in the second half as Loughborough struggled to get a grip of the mid-field
and Aylestone equalised on 54 minutes after another great move Daniel Panhhania
scoring the goal , Play pinged from end to end and Loughborough were caught on
the break only to be saved by an excellent stop from Chay Carter and almost immediately
Ollie English had a thunderous header cleared of the line from a corner at the
other end. In the tense final minutes it was Loughborough who blinked conceding
a foul from an ill-judged tackle on the edge of the penalty area. The free-kick
taken by Adam Hohn cleared the wall leaving the keeper statuesque with one of
the greatest free kicks you will see anywhere and consigning Loughborough to a
bitterly disappointing defeat. DIVISION ONE Leicester Nirvana beat

target for Swallows , Wigston Rangers Both teams started with not a lot of zest
between them but Gilmorton had the chances but could not capitalise but eventually
it was Wigston who took the lead. Gilmorton heads went down and Wigston then made
it 2. Gilmorton suddenly burst into life and after several attempts from Stephen
Bottom and Dan Nwaozuzu, Ray Ford popped up from the defence to latch on to the
free kick. This gave even more life to the Gilmorton team but again they could
not find the back of the net until eventually a lovely through ball found Dan
Nwaozuzu who finished off with a superb goal. DIVISION THREE Highfield
