LEICESTERSHIRE YOUTH LEAGUE REPRESENTATIVE SQUAD.
The under 16 representative team had it's first match of the season at Topps Park Oadby against a very competitive Nottingham Forest side .The Youth League side gave a polished performance despite not having a training session or match practice together .The game started with a quick tempo with both teams knocking the ball around and testing the defensive units but it was the league side who thought they had scored when a fierce shot from the left of the box flew into the net but was adjudged off-side. This seemed to kick Forest into action and they were soon pegging the home side back in their own box , After 28 minutes Forest took the lead when a quick ball from midfield sprayed the ball out wide for the winger to pass two defenders to rifle the ball into the net from 14 yards. For the next ten minutes this seemed to give Forest confidence to play expansive football after a spell of long pressure were rewarded with the second when a defensive mix up led to the ball cannoning off one of the defenders for the ball to fall at the feet of one of the Forest forwards who had the simplest of finishers by tapping the ball into the empty net.
Half time L.Y.L. 0 - 2 Forest

The second half started with the league side in determined mood after a rousing half time team talk and after five minutes changed the system to 3 - 5 -2. This seemed to encourage the Leicester team and they were rewarded for all their efforts when Kyle Sperry found a good pass and top gear to fend off two Forest defenders to finish off in style, giving the crowd something to cheer about. At the other end the exceptional captain Danny Jenno was having a storming debut in the heart of the defence giving a faultless display as he led from beginning to the end. It was Jenno that got the equaliser after another ten minutes when a series of pressure a corner from the left Jenno, unmarked at the back post, headed home. The youth side then looked more than ever determined to go on and get the winner but it was Forest who took the victory after over loading the Leicester box and a shot from the left beat the home keeper. In the last five minutes Leicester tried to get the equaliser but good Forest defending and missed chances cost us dear.
