MATCH REPORT FIXTURE SIX
NORTHAMPTON YOUTH LEAGUE 1 LEICESTERSHIRE YOUTH LEAGUE 2

The league representative team made the short journey to Northampton Spencer f c to take on the league representative side from Northampton. This was a first for the team as normally they don't play away fixtures On a mild night with a mild wind blowing across the ground both teams started trying to play football but the away team forgot all the basics and at every opportunity pumped high balls forward hoping the forward could catch Northampton out, this was going against the grain the team were instructed from the off to keep the ball on the floor and use short passes to open the home defence up.

Leicestershire included two new players after several absentees Zak Ainscough from Raynesway Rangers replacing Jamie Allen And Sebb Archer-Fenn replacing Joe Hanlon both Royce Rangers with Darrell Matts also not available the team started with a squad of fifteen, Both keepers had busy periods in the first half with no team able to take the advantage, good defending from captain Danny Jenno and Jack Poole made sure at the break was 0 - 0. Zak Ainscough made his debut five minutes before half time to try and freshen things up along with midfield maestro Tom Weaver.

HALF TIME 0 - 0

The second half started with Leicestershire passing the ball around and mounting wave after wave of attacks but bearing no fruit, after fifteen minutes sloppy defending cost Leicestershire dear with a knock on ball was superbly volleyed into the goal catching the away defence out. Leicestershire restarted with the kind of football the large following had been used to and it was no surprise when they grabbed the equalizer fifteen minutes from time when Kyle Sperry scored to make it 1 - 1, Leicestershire sensed the game was there for the taking and only a good save from the home keeper kept them level then another piece of play from the Leicestershire midfield left Sperry though on goal, after beating two defenders at the near post managed to squeeze the ball past the advancing keeper wrong footing him in the process to claim the winner. Leicestershire now enter the Easter period for a well earned break and look forward to the two remaining fixtures.
